Scyphocrinites (Crinoid)
Age - Late Silurian - Early Devonian (417-443 MYA)
Origin - Morocco
A genus of crinoid. Instead of being rooted to the ground like most crinoid, Scyphocrinites had a lobolith, which is a floating sphere that keeps an animal afloat in water. Unlike other crinoids, Scyphocrinites hung upside down at the surface. They are sometimes found in mass associations.
